Montrose Bowl

Day 5- Have a party at Montrose Bowl

Somewhere in the third block of Honolulu Ave. (as you enter off Verdugo),  you will see a store front that could have been in the Twilight Zone.  No, Chilluns, this is not a movie set.  This is Montrose Bowl- one of the quirkiest and coolest things in town.

This eight lane bowling alley has not lost an ounce of it’s Happy Days/Fonzie era decor.  From the vinyl banquettes to the atomic era graphics on the walls to the candy colored bowling balls, this is nostalgia at it’s finest.

It is not a “public” bowling alley, though.  They only do private parties- birthdays, graduations, anniversaries and the like.  Prices are very reasonable and you can bring all your own food, but drinks are purchased there. You get unlimited bowling and shoe rental for the duration of your event.

I’ve been to many parties here and it is always a good time.

Actually, they are now open to the public on Monday nights! Not really advertized, unless you happen to see the sign they put out on the sidewalk… Makes for a fun Monday evening, especially if you start off across the street at Joselito’s for their Monday special, .99 cent tacos!
