What a great event- Thank You to the Crescenta Valley Fireworks Association for an amazing evening.
If you got to La Crescenta Elementary before 6:30 there were short lines, the rides were great and the food trucks were fantastic- the Grilled Cheese Truck was fabulous! Lawn space was full before 5 PM, but I got there at 7:15 and there was still room to squeeze in, although just barely. Thanks to the Johnson Family (Glenwood) for letting me hang out with them- your kids are awesome.
I thought the band- Stinky Felix- was great. They were best with the East LA 70’s tunes I grew up with- but they did straight rock and roll very respectably.
The highlight of the evening, though, was absolutely the young lady from Mountain Elementary that sang the national anthem. She is in fourth grade- so that makes her all of what, 9 years old? She hit it out of the ball park when the fireworks punctuated, “And the rocket’s red glare, with bombs bursting in air” part of the song. If any of you know her name, please post it in the comments- she deserves our kudos!
