The Rossmoyne area encompasses the “flats”, extending from the 134 Freeway to Mountain and bordered by Brand Blvd. and Verdugo Rd. on the sides. There are a few majestic period homes in the hills above Mountain. It also includes the micro communities of Royal Blvd. (our first historic district), Greenbrier (a neighborhood of 60’s and 70’s-era executive homes) and Old Phillips (slightly newer and showier homes with views).
Many are drawn to the storybook aesthetic of the character homes and the pleasant, tree- lined streets. Stunning and majestic Spanish, Moorish and Monterey Colonial mansions line Royal Blvd. and are tucked away in the hills above Mountain. Notable estates are the Mayor’s House on Hillcroft Rd. and the Roy Disney Jr. Estate on Melwood.

Thirty homes along a curving, palm tree-lined stretch of Royal Boulevard in the Rossmoyne area are approved as a historic district, the very first such district in the city of Glendale. Much credit for this accomplishment goes to the savvy and dedicated Royal Canyon Properties Association. The area includes a fine variety of Period Revival homes, including good examples of the Spanish Colonial Revival and English- and French-inspired designs, built primarily between 1927 and 1948.
The main park, here, is Nibly Park which teems with life all day long and is the neighborhood meeting place in the early evening and weekends.
