When you get right down to it, this is the most basic and urgent question on theHomeowner’s mind today.
Should I sell my house now, or wait?
I am going to assume you want to wait for prices to go up, so the more important question is, how long can you afford to wait and what will you accomplish by waiting?
Most of the people who ask me this question feel like they are in no hurry to sell. However, when I ask them about waiting 2, 3 or even 5 years they start to squirm. For some, that wait is not practical or even possible.
Here is the bold truth, People.
Even the most optimistic opinions predict that home prices will remain flat or see very minimal gains for the next 2-5 years. Many more opinions predict further declines.
This means there is an outside chance you could make a little more money if you wait, but,
What is the cost of waiting?
Are you paying more, now, than you will pay where ever you are going? Are you delaying the next step in your life? Are you prolonging an unhappy situation?
These questions do not have a specific price tag while the loss in equity has a very real and painful dollar amount. I get that. But it is like the MasterCard commercial,
Moving on with your life? Priceless.
