J Bee Boutique – Jade Dasaad

Jade Dassad
What is your name, your business and where are you located?
Jade Dasaad, J Bee Boutique On Verdugo Rd. south of Broadview a few blocks below Honolulu
Tell me about how you started.
I started this business online- I had a website for a few years and I was ready to open a store
Why does your business exist?
When I first moved back to town in my early twenties, i would always wanted to be out and about everywhere and being a busy person,  I didn’t always have time to drive out to the mall.  I wished there was a store that I could pick something up, always had new stuff, affordable… so I pretty much opened up the store I wanted to be able to shop at!
Describe your fan.
The great thing about being a “girl” is that you can be a different person everyday with what you’re wearing. Which I love.  Some of my stuff is for when you feel bad ass and edgy and sometimes you just feel super girly.  I keep in mind that a 15 year old could come in here or a 40 year old and be able to find something.  We have date night stuff, work clothes, a dress for going out for the weekend…
What do you do that a big box biz can’t?
I am all about aesthetics. So one of my main focus is that when you walk into the store it smells good, it looks good, it makes you feel good and puts you in the mood to want to try on things and buy things and make yourself the prettiest version of you!  This is very different then when it is huge and kind of cold and every store looks the same, it is not very exciting.  When a gal feels good, everything looks better on her.  I feel like when you walk in it should feel like a little doll house!!  I love it here!
What is one thing about you that no one really knows about
My ethnicity really trips people up.  They can’t tell what I am.  I am Argentine, Indonesian, Mexican and Philipino.
What is the funniest/craziest thing that ever happened in your business
When I was trying to get this store open it was just me and my mom, maybe a few girlfriends- we were up super late and delusional tired.  I couldn’t get anything to be exactly the way I wanted and I was so emotional about it!  The night before we were going to open it still looked like a pigsty in here.  We worked far into the night and it was just coming together… and then my shelving fell out of the wall.  It was, like 1 in the morning and I just freaked out.  There was nothing to do but work some more.  We were up until 4 in the morning, but when we opened everything was perfect.  Just like Project Runway- my make it work moment!
