When it comes to restaurants in Glendale, one is usually not thinking of a Chinese Restaurant. However, the New Moon is the real deal. This is a contemporary take on a Downtown Los Angeles institution. The original restaurant has been in it’s dowtown digs since I was a baby. In fact, my Mom used to take me there as a child. It was one of several regular “late night dinner” places that the Chinese American crowd would go to after a rousing bowling match.
The Montrose incarnation is part owned and mostly run by the son of the original. The other owners are all Glendale natives (and mostly CVHS grads). Extremely popular dishes are the Shelby Beef and the Chinese Chicken Salad. My drinking friends rave over the Cosmopolitans.
2138 N. Verdugo Rd.
